Hi Folks

I often go to the dmoz guide and search to see if a site that I have submitted is being contained in the database. I very rarely find that the search system is working, and even when it does it does not find websites that I know are in the database.

I can obviously laboriously go through the categories to find mention of the sites that I have submitted. But I would like to know if there any other way of searching the database?

I am currently trying to establish if www.dariantrading.com has made it into the listings.

Hope you can help!

Unfortunately the search feature is a low priority option that has been problematic, although I was able to locate many sites in the search without much trouble from it today. The search is a convieince feature, but since DMOZ is not a search engine or listing service it is not really important in the big picture of compiling and organizing sites in a directory because the Search Engines and listing services that use the data already offer the search. If you want to know if you site is listed or has been reviewed please visit the Site Submission Status Forum, read the Posting Guidelines and submit a properly formated request. Someone there should be able to answer your question.

Thanks.

To search for a domain name on dmoz:

Use only the domain name dot extension. Don't use http://www. before it. Search for dariantrading.com, not www.dariantrading.com.

Or use Google's advanced search and choose the "Domain Only/Don't return results from the site or domain ___________" option - and put dmoz.org in the blank. We freely admit that Google makes a better search engine than we do. We pride ourselves on our directory, not our search engine.
