In all such cases, we tell the webmaster that we will go to the OLD URL to attempt to verify that the change is not an attempted hijack.

You should put a "we've moved" or "we're moving to xxx.com" notice at the old site BEFORE the update request is reviewed (actually, before it's even submitted.) So far as I can see, that hasn't been done.

We are moving slowly. We don't directly administrate the old website and its paied for, so we just want to change the information on our listing with DMOZ for the new website it doen't mean that we want both of them listed - only the new one. We'll figure out something with the old one later.

Can you tell me if the info can be changed and if so when it should appear.

Thank you.

The reason we ask people to change the old website is to show us that this is not a hijack attempt (someone attempting to get a competitor's listing removed in favour of their own). I'm making no judgement about whether you are or are not doing this, only giving you the information on why need this sort of proof. Thanks <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

We have found that it is inconclusive, which is why we ask you to do it the way we described. Thank you.

The problem with WHOIS data is that it's incredibly easy to forge. Again, not saying that you forged the WHOIS data, but in the past it's been known for spammers to do this in an attempt to trick us and hijack someone else's listing.

Well, looks like we'll have to waite. Because it's not going to be closed at least until it expires.

Thank you for your help!

You don't need to close your old site in order to request the URL update. All that was asked for is that you put a notice like the one mentioned by hutcheson on the old site so that the editor who will handle your update request can check if it is legitimate.
