Checking on the availability of an editor

I have suggested my company's site in the most appropriate category [Top: Computers: Software: Manufacturing: Process] about a month back. I just wanted to check if there is an active editor who is reviewing the suggested category. The main reason for my concern is that the at bottom of the said category page, I can see "Volunteer to edit this category" which indicates that no editor directly monitoring the suggestions, but the date of the last edit is as current as 02/02/2007.

I will greatly appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the availability of an editor for our category [Top: Computers: Software: Manufacturing: Process].

Please be assured that I have no intentions to bug the editors or am in any hurry. I am just looking forward to being able to keep my hopes alive.

Thanks.

There are many editors who can edit that category, any editors listed higher-up in the category structure as well as around 200 editors who can edit anywhere in the directory. No category is without an editor. :)

Our FAQ has more information.

Thanks for the prompt reply PhotoFox. Trust me, all my fingers and toes are crossed. I will need to have additional hypertension tablets until I hear back from a DMOZ editor.

I really wish the submission status link was back.

Regards.

You are very unlikely to hear back from an editor (and we never had a submission status link).

No Time for Editor

Editor doesn't have time to edit their catagory.
How can they edit other catagories.
Only few editors are active and that's how they work in DMOZ.
Others lost or sleeping since ages.

You're cracking me up, dobariya, :) .

When you see a category has an editor, it doesn't mean they own the category, it merely means they have permission to edit there, they may be named as the editor in many other categories also.

I, myself, roam through thousands of categories, most of which have no named resident editor, but I consider all of those as part of my editing responsibilities, along with many other editors (as photofox explained). Photofox is also one of those editors.

So no category is without an editor, they are just named in a higher category and can edit in every category beneath them, and it's impractical and unneccessary to name them in each of those. :)
