The submission has been received and is awaiting review. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 6 February.

'Tiz Feb. 6th, 2005 and I just stopped by to check on the status of my site's submission into the DMOZ database.

As an aside, I am troubled with the status of sites listed within Arts: Animation: Cartoons: Titles: D: Daria as at least two of those sites have been down for over a year, 1 has had a URL change (Actually the URL has been changed twice), and descriptions are wrong for at least one site as well. I tried to volenteer as an editor but was rejected three times. I list over 80 Daria sites on my own website. I don't want to sound negative and I can live without being an editor but maybe the editor over this section may need a little kick? :)

Thanks for your time,
-drmike

I am sorry you weren't accepted as an editor. I do not take part in the process of reviewing new editors' applications, so I don't know why you were denied.

However, also you as a simple user of the directory can help updating the existing listings. Whether the URL has changed or the description is incorrect: Use the button "update listing" at the top right of the category page to suggest a change.

Thank you very much for your help.

I don't mind using the "Update Listing" procedure but this troubles me as, from reading reviews and the help files on this site, editors were suppose to go through and review links once in a while. *chuckle* There certainly seems to be a fair amount of addon software works that assist editors on doing this. :)

I must admit that going through all the trouble in updating these links after being told three times that I'm not wanted on their team troubles me as well. I don't mind doing it for this topic or any other but if someone else is suppose to be watching over this topic, then someone should be watching over this topic.

Again, not trying to be negative. Just would like to see this through.

Thanks,
-drmike

I see no change in status since the last report. Sorry not to have better news. :(

You may ask again in this thread in 6 months.

As for why you didn't receive a status report before, it might be because you were about 5 hours early....

I was actually thinking an editor would come back and not see a site URL and a clickable catagory link. I just wanted to put it again.

What do you recommend for all the errors in the section though? I made a long topic about what needs to be fixed last night and then discovered that 1 - There's no forum here that covers errors, really only abuse, 2 - I have to be an editor to fix stuff, or 3 - I have had to have submitted the sites in question in the first place.

Thanks,
-drmike

Without checking this specific category:

1: The thread Report Hijacks, Dead Links & Inappropriate ODP Content Here ONLY accepts reports of redirects (although it doesn't say that) and sites which no longer fit the category. It doesn't cover description changes.

3: You don't have to be the one who submitted the site to suggest updates. In fact, we usually don't check to see if the update suggester is the same as the original suggester. For that reason, we don't accept URL changes unless the site is down or has pointers, itself, and we check all title and description change requests carefully.

Your update requests may be used as part of your editor application, even if they are accepted. It makes more work for the Metas to verify that you made the suggestion, but sometimes there's still an adequate record.
