hi,
I was wondering if DMOZ is alive. And many people are wondering also.
I've submitted my site to DMOZ one year ago (first time).
Result: no reply, no action, no email, no nothing
I submitted it again 8 months ago (second time).
Result : nothing
I submitted it again 2 weeks ago.
Result : nothing.

6 months ago I applied to become an editor for DMOZ.
Result: nothing, no email to be accepted/refused...nothing.

Why don't you accept more editors if the active ones can't handle the amount of work?
Why don't you find a solution to make things work faster and both sides to be happy.

If an editor declines an url, i think there would be a good solution to let the user know the reason his website was not accepted and automatically forbid that site to be suggested again in the next ....let's say 6 months.

Thank you.

Every editor application generates feedback when it has been reviewed, whether it is successful or not.
There are no applications from that long ago still awaiting review, so you would certainly have received feedback before now. I hope you checked your spam filters?

As I said, an email is always sent whenever an editor application (not a site suggestion) is reviewed. So one would have been sent to you, whether or not your application was successful. It's unfortunate that you did not receive it, but it is not uncommon for people to overlook the spam filter issue.

But there is nothing to stop you following one of these options:
1. Ask about your editor application in the "Becoming an Editor" forum, taking care to fulfil the requirements for posting. Perhaps it was accepted and you didn't even realise. :)
2. Assume your application was unsuccessful and re-apply, taking care to complete the form more carefully this time, to increase your chances of being accepted. A rejection email would have given you some guidance, but there are plenty of other resources to help you.

Note that there is no notification system regarding site suggestions, for a multitude of reasons which you can read elsewhere in this forum. Here is one starting point: "Discontinuation of site status checks".

I'm pretty sure I did not received any email from DMOZ. I ususally check my spam folder , too because I only receive 3-4 spam emails per week, so there is not a big effort.
But now, as you say that an email is always sent regarding editor application, I believe you.
That's why I think (thought!) that DMOZ is dead....no sign from it.
Thanks for your suggestions!
