Our Site is a commercial site.
We submitted it to Computers/Software/Workflow/Products (which has workflow companies listed)
How do we know that the editor is not a competitor (then he has no reason to appove our site, or even better - delaying his approval)

I see that one of our compettiors has 2 listings in DMOZ (for the same product)
Does DMOZ check the editors for confict of interests?

Thanks.

I didn't ask about the status

I didn't ask about the status. I just asked if DMOZ editors are checked to prevent confict of interests.

If you check the information on applying to become an editor you will find 'If you are a webmaster or associated with any website, please disclose this on your application.'.

If you read the threads in the Becoming an Editor board, you will find some threads covering this area.

The information is there to be found if some one thinks it is important enough to look.

Similarly there are forum posting guidelines...

The short answer is: you can worry about whatever you want to worry about.

You can't prevent conflicts of interests without exterminating humanity -- it's intrinsic in human nature.

Anyone can review the entire Open Directory, any time, looking for any kind of action that is contrary to the guidelines. You're welcome to look also, and there are several ways to report your findings -- as it happens, such things are taken very seriously.

But you should recognize that "delaying approval" is not an action, it is a non-action. It's written in the guidelines, and should be obvious (but somehow seems not to be) that any editor is free at any time to NOT take any action whatsoever.

As a matter of fact, no editor can "delay" a site review. Because any OTHER editor can review that site any time, for any reason whatsoever, conscious or unconscious or stochastic.
