Hello,
I have a query regarding a site submitted to DMOZ. The query is related with (best) category for the site- http://www.silverartandstonebeads.com/
The site has been submited to category-
Top: Shopping: Crafts: Jewelry: Precious Metal: Gold and Silver: Silver
My doubt is whether it should come under category-
Top: Business: Consumer_Goods_and_Services: Jewelry: Precious_Metals
( I found the two category very similar. )

Thanks & Regards. :)

If a website has a catalogue, prices and a means of ordering product, it might belong within Shopping. If not, it might go elsewhere - maybe the other category you mention.

The submission notice for [cat]Shopping/Crafts[/cat] states:
This category lists the sites of individual craftspeople who create items by hand and sell them to the public. In order to be listed in this category, the site must represent an individual craftperson and his or her products.
Companies that buy and resell handcrafted household items should submit their sites to [cat=Shopping/Home_and_Graden/Accessories/Handcrafted]Shopping: Home and Garden: Accessories: Handcrafted[/cat].

To submit your site, please find the appropriate subcategory in Shopping: Crafts. No sites are listed in the top level of this category.

If you do not sell products of an single individual craftsperson, your site might be better off in a related category to the first category you mention.

(I see jimnoble posted while I was writing this. However, we said completely different things, so, ....)

New query about submission

Sir,

I want to clarify my doubt about multiple submission of a site to DMOZ. In case, different person submit a site in different (best) category without knowing each other. That means if more that one person submit a site to DMOZ, than how will it be judged as right or spam.

Thanks & Regards

Two independent listing suggestions aren't considered to be abusive. We understand that humans can make mistakes :) .

More than that could be seen as a deliberate act.

And we certainly do not want to see two submission in the same branch of the directory tree.
