Cross-submitting on "partner" sites

I submited my site through dmoz.org and then, while searching the web, I found other, seemingly different directories, to which I also submitted my site like abc-directory.com (some asked for 20$ to speed up listing <URL deleted>).

After a while, I figured that they most likely use data from dmoz.org for their "directories", so now I'm wondering if my site has been submitted several times to dmoz.org or not...I couldn't find anything on dmoz.org about having an "API" for 3rd parties to submit sites.

You may want to make the answer to this question sticky or add it to an FAQ - it seems there's more and more of these sites around.

Cheers

Part of the license requirement for hosting the Open Directory is that the "suggest URL" and "update URL" links must go back to dmoz.org. So it is very possible that you suggested the same site multiple times.

If so, it's very likely that the system automatically merged the suggestions, so no editor will ever notice.

Such a payment will be for a listing in that specific directory, it certainly is not for DMOZ.

There is no "API". Sites using our data must provide a link to the DMOZ suggestion page. These links must be as specified on http://www.dmoz.org/become_an_editor/

Sites using our data may add their own listings and they can decide how to collect these extra listaings (payed or free) all by themself. But they may never pretend to collect payment for a listing in DMOZ.

Cross submitting

Thats the answer you already get, i am not an editor but with my experience i know that if you submit or update your website on dmoz, the page should open in dmoz.org

what i feel is that you have not done cross or multiple submission because if you open dmoz.org submit site link you can notice easily.

but, in case if you have resubmit many time, that is not good for your website and you must take care in future and dont submit your site again to dmoz.org at least for 6 months.
