Data Dump for Search Facility

Can any of the admins say when the last data dump was for the SEARCH facility and / or when the next one is due?

Contrary to what some have said here i think it is useful for the search function to be up to date - or at least within a month or two. It seems to me based on listings checked that the search function is very out of date. Like over 2 years?

The search feature is not updating at the moment due to a known bug, which AOL is working to fix. It is perhaps a couple of months out of date, certainly not 2 years. :)

Since DMOZ 2.0 was launched, the search database no longer relies on the RDF to update.

Patiently waiting.... I said it was 2 years - but you wouldn't listen. 6 months has quietly passed since I reported it to DMOZ admins for the third time.

I'll come back to this thread in 2013 and see what you say then.

Despite what some of the admins say - the search is useful and it is important for it to be accurate and in synch with the listings and cat data.

This is just another example of how poorly maintained the directory has become.

We would all love for everything to work perfectly. Unfortunately, things are not working as expected at the moment. AOL are aware of the issues and are working to correct them (the problems noted earlier in this thread were fixed).

The search database is not 2 years out of date, it normally updates everyday, however one of the known bugs causes some incorrect search result to show (for example, a removed site may still show up in search results).

Please be patient while we work to fix these problems.

Thanks. :)

Photofox,

How long do you want me to wait?

Like I said our website is listed incorrectly in the Search index as compared to how it is listed in the main categorical listings.

August 2011 - you told me I was wrong.

Do I need to come back here in 1.5 years and tell you that now it is certainly 2 years or will any of the admins or editors help me out?

I have been patient. I have not constantly complained. I simply would like to know if anyone can assist or not and if it is a bufg like I pointed out last year - do any senior admins know about it and is there an ETA on fixing it.

Or - is it site specific - and if that is the case can anyone help us out ?

Thanks.

To repeat what I told you in a different thread today:

Yes, everybody knows about it, the editors/metas/admins don't have code access to fix it and the AOL people that do have higher priorities. There is no ETA on a fix. Finally, since you already know that the bug is already in the system to be fixed, there's no point complaining about it here.

I suggest that you do what the rest of us have to do - be patient.
