Is there any way of finding out when the change of an URL has been made in the ODP?

For an editor, yes. Not for you. But I can't recall ever having used it anyway. Why? What does it matter?

Is the URL right -- then it doesn't matter when we made it right, it's OK, on to the NEXT question and hope it's relevant.

Is the URL wrong? Then it needs to be fixed however long it has been that way. (And so, to an editor, the plaintiff "my spam was in the ODP for THREE YEARS, how could they take it out?" sounds so bizarre: as if we had a "grandfather" clause!)

I guess you'd be right, if the world was limited to problems of improving the ODP (which, by the way I really appreciate people doing). However, we are in serious legal dispute with the holder of a listet URL about the (prohibited) use of our company name. As it appears the decision depends on the question I asked, namely wether the change was made before or after a certain date and - of course - the holder won't tell. And since the ODP has a great impact on the markets it covers I really think, that this question in a way is also relevant for the system itself.

But if there is no way of finding out, well, nothing we can do about it. Thanks anyway.

Even if the date something was changed in DMOZ was relevant it will not tell you when that person/company changed his site or stared using "your" name.
Maybe http://www.archive.org/web/web.php can be of help to you.

If it's a matter of a legal dispute, then talk to the AOL lawyers. The information you seek is knowable, and if relevant to your case, a subpoena or some such legal procedure seems indicated.
