Hello,

I believe this is a little crazy. I have tried everything to get a reputable and respected site listed on DMOZ for over a year now. You have our partner company listed (which is in a difference field as the site in question) however there is refusal to add this site in question.

I'm not trying to spam, exploit or take advantage of your directory, but you have MANY other sites that our company works with and is in the same niche as but you (or your moderators) still refuse to accept my other site.

I'm a little bit offended and confused at the same time. I've followed your guidelines word for word with no results.

I don't mean to come off as defensive, but I'm just at a loss. Could you (or somebody) please explain what the problems are with my entry and I will bend over backwards to correct them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and hopefully reply to.

A little bit more info: I read everything properly, followed each step and submitted to the appropriate section/category. I literally followed other sites in our same niche and did exactly what and where they did.. So I hope you can understand my confusion and frustration.

Thanks.

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

I respectfully understand your points. You're correct and I appreciate your response, but when I applied to be an editor I was rejected within 24 hours. I just don't understand it. It was my understanding (via forums and internet articles) that most webmasters or users see a suggested site appear within a few months, not years?

Well, you can either believe me, a meta editor, or you can believe what some unaccredited 'expert' tells you elsewhere :).
