Since the category name already includes the word "vacation rentals" it won't be added to your description.

Thanks for your quick response. Although it's not what I wanted to hear, it does make sense.

Please help me understand. I am not seeing the traffic I expected to see when the site did get indexed on ODP. I guess I'm just trying to tweak things to see some better results.

Unfortunately the ODP is not a search engine optimization forum, and even more unfortunately, many people have much higher expectations of the ODP than what is realistic. We are only here to build the world's largest human-edited directory, not to optimize keywords for search engines.

There are webmaster forums available online for you to discuss search engine optimization and other issues related to your marketing efforts.

Best of luck in your endeavors.

If your site was added recently then you'll have to wait a couple of months for our partners to pick up the data that includes your site. Furthermore you won't see a lot of users from dmoz.org itself (which practically only editors use).

The increase in traffic comes when our partners pick up the data, and use it in their own indicies.

You should be aware that an ODP description change will not affect the search engine results for any page -- except copies of that ODP category page.
