Description not uptodate.

Hi there,

The website for our Company www.yourcommunications.co.uk
is listed in Dmoz but the description no longer respresents services the company now provides, so can it be changed ? The website is listed in the category

Top: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Business and Economy: Industries: Telecommunications: Consultants

The appropriate description would be,
"For complete business communications services, including voice, data, mobile phone and internet"

Yes, it most definitely can be.

If you call up the page for the category in your browser, you should see a link somewhere at the top called "Update URL" in this you can request an update to your description or title, or URL, whicever is appropriate.

What this usually triggers is for an editor to re-review the site. You might not get the exact changes you requested done, but you will more than likely get someone to take another look and update the description as necessary.

However, in the interests of expectation management, I would suggest you read the ODP Guidelines about how site descriptions are written. For example, we have no interests in getting keywords into a description. If it's in the category name, there's no need to put it in the description. Words like "Complete" can be looked on as marketing-speak - most editors will remove that. I hope you get the idea - check out the link I gave you for more details.
