Hello,
I would like to submit my site in DMOZ but am uncertain if I need to make multiple submissions or just the one?

The site is destinationsguide.info and can fit within many categories

For example:

Africa - <URL removed>
East Africa - <URL removed>
Zambia - <URL removed>

.......

Asia - <URL removed>
South-central Asia - <URL removed>
Kyrgyzstan - <URL removed>

etc....

How do I go about in adding these into DMOZ?

Many thanks

Norman

Please suggest only the main url to what is the one best categeory.

But first read the announcement at the top of this forum. Due to technical problems it is not possible to suggest sites at this moment.

<added>
And please read the DMOZ guidelines about sites we list and which we don´t list.
see http://dmoz.org/add.html
and http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html

Hi Norman

The bottom line is that you find the single most appropriate category which is this case would be covering the world and suggest it there. The editor who reviews it will decide whether that is the best place and if it is listable. If they feel that you offer such unique and valuable content that it should also appear in other categories, then they will suggest it to those categories for you.

The thing I think you need to consider with such a wide ranging site is whether you are be offering unique content on so many topics. If anything, the value would be in the whole rather than the parts. I suggest you check out our guidelines for information on the sites we like to list.

As you can see from our announcement thread, the ODP are currently having problems, so the suggest an url link is not available at the moment.

Thanks for your reply, but, if you look at the content of the site, you would see that it relates to alot of categories in the Destinations Guide areas, I see that there are entries which are listed in multiple locations. ie http://xxx/section/ :Africa - description....

How do I do this? Why is there one rule for some and another for others?

Cheers

Norman

The guidelines (rules as you call them) are the same for everybody.
rule 1) suggest a site to the ONE best category
rule 2) an editor can decide to list deeplinks or to list a site more than once

We also have a guideline about listing only sites with enough unique content. And a request not to suggest sites that lack that enough unique content.

No there is one rule for everybody. The idea is that there is one suggestion for each site to one topical category.

The editor reviewing it might then go "Wow, site is fantastic" or "hey what a great section on a totally unrelate topic" and decide to suggest deeplinks to the site to other areas. It then requires the editor reviewing those deeplinks to put their expertese to work to decide whether they agree.
