Different site using parts from the same database.

Hello

Can we submit a site that is using parts from another database, if the information is different, there are 2 different domain names and the purpose of the site is different from the main one?

The main site (full database) is www.archi-web.com - currently enqueued for admission check to DMOZ

The other site we want to submit is www.archiwebusa.com
and we want to list it into a different category than the first one.

Thanks

Re: Different site using parts from the same datab

Both are about Archiweb Design who have spread their website (offering website design services) over several domain names. That doesn't entitle them to several listings.

Were one of them selling chopped liver and the other bicycles, my opinion might well have been different.

Ok, I was just asking. They are different sites serving different purposes IMHO.
I understand that DMOZ doesn't allow sites to be submited if the content is the same. As the info is taken from the same database, that would be the infringement.
Thanks for your reply.

"Different Purpose" is marketroid cant. We don't speak that here. We talk about "unique content." You are free to create one "doorway" page pointing to all your "differently-targeted views" of your database, and request that that page be the one listed.

Sorry, can you be more specific? I don't understand what do you mean by "differently-targeted views of your database".

Re: Different site using parts from the same datab

I suppose hutcheson means that you create different sites in order to target different customer groups or market niches for the same kind of services/products, and that each group only sees the part of the database content which is relevant to this group.

Such marketing techniques are common and OK, but DMOZ will only list one of your sites (provided it qualifies) in the most appropriate category, preferably the main site from which you can access all your sub-sites.

Submitting sub-sites is equivalent to submitting deeplinks. You should therefore only submit your main site.

The situation might be different if a company offers completely unrelated services, i.e. web design and food processing.

Hope that helps a little bit. <img src="/images/icons/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Yes, senox has done an admirable job of translating my concept into English.
