I am mentioned with my site http://www.horseriding.gr in 2 of your categories: http://dmoz.org/Sports/Equestrian/Vacations_and_Touring/Europe/Greece/
and in
http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Greece/Prefectures/Heraklion/Recreation_and_Sports/
both of them were modified by your editor on 6 sept last. Changing url from http://www.odysseia.nl to the new url. horseriding.gr

Untill 6 of september my site had a number 1 ranking in google with horse riding crete and horse riding greece. After the 6th of september my site is nowhere to find anymore in google. Only if i type something like Horse riding Crete Avdou Sabine.
Is there a relationship in these 2 events?
and if yes what do i have to do now?

In the months before i already changed the links to the new url

Who can help me?

There may or may not be a relationship, the only thing we can b sure of is that there is nothing we at the ODP could do about it.

Depending on the viewpoint, Google ranking is either a Google issue (so ask them) or a SEO issue (so ask in a general SEO forum).

Sorry, we can't help you here. Google ranking is as much of a mystery to us as to anyone else.

I should mention that ultimately, I have a full share in the ignorance everyone else is expressing.

But my strong impression is that Google is very good at NOT dropping sites out of sight for appropriate behavior. And my firm conviction is that the ODP listing is not inappropriate behavior.

If I were you, I would look at the search engine results manipulation techniques you originally used to get that #1 listing; I would strongly suspect that Google is on to them -- after all, that is their JOB, to be on to such things, and they are better at it than anyone else in the world. Don't blame all your problems on two incontrovertibly legitimate listings you have.

google ranking

Dear sir,

I also believe that i did not drop out of the google ranking by the update of dmoz. But i also believe that i did nothing with the site that could be punished by google.

It is a onest site, no advertisings, no network, no mirror sites etc.
Made by myself with the help of a frontpage book. :)

So what can be the reason than?
Should i really just wait for the site to mature? as the new url is just a few months old

Well, if the problem is not something obvious, it's time to fall back on acknowledgement of comprehensive ignorance.

And, again, we are not Google, do not have access to any Google proprietary information, and certainly do not believe it is our role to try and analyze Google or its actions (at least in this forum).

There are plenty of other forums that do exactly that.

Although it is heavely out of topic for R-Z a small answer.
You forget to put a good redirect (good=recognisable by Goolge) on your old site. Now G thinks your new site is just a new site and not the continuation of your old one. I only see a text and a clickable link, make it a 302 redirect or if this is not possible a javascript automatic redirect.

Not a 302 redirect! There are many problems with those.

It needs to be a 301 redirect. It may already be too late.

google

Dear everybody,

Thanks for the help, even if this was not the correct place.
I put back the automatic redirect on my page.

Now the new page www.horseriding.gr gets an older age of the old url (which has the aut. redirect), even though i removed the old url from indexing in google?

Thanks again,
Sabine

Several of the above will not allow discussion of specific sites in their forums.

There are other forums that will offer you a personal review of your site.
