DMOZ discrimination for four years!

A

Argentimage

I have tried for Four years to get DMOZ to put us in a non regional pigeon hole that is ruining our web business.

We have continually asked to be moved to Photography category> with some options as sub categories.

What does it take for someone to wake up an just do it?

Why are we being discriminated against?

We have 9000 stock photos to select from on-line. You cannot show me one active photographer that has that many available to view on line with out having to pay to view them first.

Our company is Photography and Books From and About Argentina - period.

Seems like we could at least get a non Dearborn Mi listing.

Photography Books>
Photographic prints for sale category>

Ok the web is www.argentimage.com

How do I get someone to get this moved?

Seems even recently the discriminators refuse to hear our case!?!

 Being that our service has somehow failed your expectations, where would you like your refund check sent?

1st, there is no discrimination because we do not guarantee a listing.

2nd, it appears your site is listed appropriatly because it is based regionally.

3rd, I highly doubt that having a listing be where you don't want it is hurting your web business. Also, the ODP is not a search engine.

Insulting editors won't get you anywhere, so better stop it!

Your site is listed in the Regional category where your office is located. That's OK, and this listing won't be moved anywhere unless you change the location of your office.

You can submit your site for a second listing in one of the topical categories. You did so a few years ago, and the site was not accepted because it was not fully functional at that point in time. But that doesn't mean you can't try again if the site is OK now.

In case you submitted your site again in the meantime, provide clickable links to the categories and someone might be willing to check the status of your submission(s).

In case you didn't, search for an appropriate category to submit to. At first sight http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Visual_Arts/Photography/Exhibits/Realistic/Travel_and_Location/ or http://dmoz.org/Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Stock/Companies/Travel_and_Location/ might be good choices.

As I mentioned in my email to you, by all means submit your site to the single most appropriate category outside of Regional -- you can have both.

Argentimage, having an ODP listing can only help your business, not hurt it. It's just a link, like a link from any other site. It may drive some traffic your way, or improve your hits from search engines. There's no way it can be ruining your business.

As you've been told, you're welcome to apply for a second listing in the Photography category (which we may or may not accept). No one is going to remove the Regional listing because it is accurate.

You are certainly not being discriminated against. Many websites do not have any listing at all. You have one. If you want a second listing, you will need to apply for it.
