Hello,

I am trying to access the DMOZ home page but I am getting "Cannot Find Server". I am firstly directed to yahoo search results and when I click on the DMOZ page from there I the results I mentioned before...

Anyone else have this issue?

It's timing out for me. No idea what the problem is. (I can get to the editor server just fine.)

:( strange! I've also tried clearing my cache, cookies, history etc, but I still cannot load the homepage, is you version loading from your cache?

Anyone know what might be causing this? I was in the process of submitting an application and it happened then.....the page bar got about half way then got the "page cannot be displayed" then I couldn't get anything DMOZ related to pull up?

Well thats wierd, it's working now? The second I posted that message I tried again and it worked?!

At least it was not just me lol...

Edit: Strange though if I type www.dmoz.org into the browser it brings up a yahoo search results, if I click on dmoz.org it loads the page....Is this normal?

I'm getting intermittent results. Even when it loads it's very slow. (Can someone move this to bugs and features?)

Well, just for the record, I did click on the link to the public dmoz that I have in my bookmarks, and it was a little slower than usual, but still getting there fine.

It is loading for me now, but really slowly, I am trying to do the application submission but it's not loading the page, rather it just sits thinking about it, maybe there is some congestion or DNS issue like mentioned before....

I am trying to do the application submission
Better save all information somewhere before hitting the submit button, provided you get there.

I'm also getting intermittent results here.

Hi Senox,

It seems to be anything to do with scripts used b DMOZ from what I can see, both the editor submission form and the contact editors forms are not working, browsers just seem to sit and do nothing :(

Hi Nigel,

Unfortunately there's nothing we as editors can do about it except bringing it to the attention of tech staff. I suggest you try again at a later time (i.e. tomorrow), it's difficult to predict when things get fixed. Thanks for your comprehension.

It's been noted in the internal forum and brough to the attention of tech support.

I was getting the problem yesterday in a Regional area and it prevented me going down more that arround three levels. As of this morning, nothing works for me.

I'm not currently able to access DMOZ too. I'm in Brazil.

I'm using Firefox and the browser is telling me the URL redirection limit was excedeed. This started yesterday, when I go to submit a site. Now it's happening on www.dmoz.org too.

I did investigate the problem. This is what I got:

Code:
flaviovs@patz:~$ telnet dmoz.org 80
GET / HTTP/1.0

HTTP/1.0 301 Moved Permanently
Date: Thu, 15 Jul 2004 17:56:20 GMT
Server: Apache/2.0.43 (Unix)
Location: [url]http://dmoz.org/[/url]
Content-Length: 224
Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
Age: 16
X-Cache: HIT from dmoz.org
X-Cache-Lookup: HIT from dmoz.org:8080
Connection: close

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>301 Moved Permanently</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Moved Permanently</h1>
<p>The document has moved <a href="http://dmoz.org/">here</a>.</p>
</body></html>

Notice that a request to http://dmoz.org returns a redirection to http://dmoz.org.

In resume: there is a problem on the dmoz.org server.

I am still able to go down 4 levels, but no further. I am using FireFox, also.

Yes indeed. Technical staff have been alerted, but there is nothing any of us here can do.
