Hi Guys,

Im new here, I am a member of several other forums and have read a lot of posts about webmasters complaining about DMOZ editors etc.

I would just like to share my thoughts and would like to view other peoples thoughts too.

In my opinion DMOZ editors should be given some gratitude, after all they are helping the "web community" and manually adding/accepting/rejecting sites within their own time for FREE! So when people moan at them and say lots of bad things about them, keep this in mind.

I'm sure I have said some bad things about them myself at some point but I have come to realise what they actually do and im sure they dont want to criticised over something they do for free and to help people. You wouldnt moan at someone who did charity work would you?

Im sure that there are some corrupt editors but this is more than likely a very small percentage. Im 99% sure there are also many editors that aren't really "active" anymore or they take weeks/months to accept/reject sites.

But I just think that the editors that are active should receive a little appreciation for what they do.

I'm not currently listed in DMOZ, I did try a few times but never heard anything, I dont know the reason for this and im not going to pester editors or moan about them because obviously they felt that my site(s) were not appropriate for their category. (And lets face it, its up to them at the end of the day, they go to the trouble of going through submissions etc and if its not good enough then thats that!)

Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts because I personally feel as though its a good resource and I often use it instead of Google to find sites of interest because you only get quality websites (well, 99% of the time anyway!)

Thumbs up to the editors! Im sure they dont get that very much! :)

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Nea,

No Problem, I know I would get fed up I did voluntary work in a charity shop and people kept coming in and being rude to me.

I think a "well done" and "keep up the good work" is always in order for voluntary workers.
