That blog entry has been there since the eBay auction was still valid. You didn't expect him to delete part of his blog, did you?

The auction was pulled the same day it was listed. Just because it's still blogged doesn't make it so ... heck, I just read a letter from Elvis dated today :D

What a tacky ploy to get website hits via eBay - hopefully they were able to render a little justice.

WRMineo: I know everything that people say is not turn but there is DMOZ editorships out there for sale. I truly believe that.

If there are crooked police officers then there has to be some where a crooked DMOZ editor. And it is quite possible that there are people that have managed to get a DMOZ editorship and have it for sale.

The problem is I think they would go for over 1000US so that is a bit much for me to through away. If I thought I could get enough PR out of it I would do it. Just like I was ready to buy the DMOZ on eBay and turn it over just for the PR of the story.

I should have known that it won't last thought : )

Yes Bob, it stands to reason that this is possible, but exploiting it as a "given" serves no purpose to me. Further, IF this were to happen, I have to believe that it wouldn't take long for the culprit(s) to be discovered and stopped from rendering a bad image to an otherwise honorable project.

You pay $1000 and become the editor for jelly moulds or dandruff shampoo. You don't know what it is until you pay your money do you. Now you have to move into a more productive area like real estate in California. Unless you were good enough and clean enough to get the category for free you ain't moving out of jelly moulds and likelyhood is that as soon as you put your head up to request the next category it will be lopped off and sold as dog food. Goodbye $1000. Goodbye account. And the jelly mould listing you sold for $5.35 is gone too.
