DMOZ has no category for fundraising companies

I have a company that is a fund raising company. We are not a non-profit. I have found no category exists for this on DMOZ. I have found a category for non-profit fundraising companies. I have also found categories for fundraising in a specific context (like sports fundraising). "financial services" is clearly too vague (and often means companies that handle your money for you). I cannot find any "suggest a category" links on the site. When you search for the companies that are my competitors in this field you simply do not find them on DMOZ (unless they fall in the nutshells described above). So how do I go about suggesting a category? I know that simply putting my company in an ill-fitting category is not a good solution.

Thank you for taking the time to try and find the correct category to suggest your site. :)
Categories are created by editors when they find enough sites to justify one, so if you can suggest enough other sites on the same topic as well as your own, it is possible that a category would be created one day. Meanwhile, just find the existing category that most closely applies and suggest your site there. When an editor feels like working in that area, and when they review your site, they can move it to a more appropriate category if one exists.

By the way, have you looked at the various subcategories of http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Philanthropy/Grants/Grant-Making_Foundations , http://www.dmoz.org/Science/Institutions/Research_Funding_Organizations/ or http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Advertising/Promotional_Products/ ?

Thanks for responding. Since the rules of the forum said not to mention company names I wanted to abide by that. Your answer is great, although as I navigated the dmoz site I found no place where I could make such a suggestion to an editor. The only links that led to editors led to private forums that are password protected. So I didn't find any method on the dmoz site for me to make such a communication. How does one go about making such a suggestion to an editor?

You can't suggest an editor to create a category.
The only thing you could do is suggest a number of websites about this subject to the closest category available. When there are enough websites the editors might decide to create a new category.

You perhaps didn't understand makrhod's post above so I'll try to be even clearer.

- We don't create new categories on external request.

- Please suggest your website to the best available current category.

There's no need to communicate with any specific editor about this matter. You can include a note to whoever processes your listing suggestion in your proposed description [like this].

Not difficult ;)
(And thanks, I do get a bit excessively loquacious sometimes. :p )
