DMOZ Listing

Hello all. This is my first time posting so I hope I'm in the right place.

I listed with DMOZ over 2 1/2 years ago and still never received a confirmation but I'm hopeful it was gathered in.

I've done searches before six months ago and it always told me there was no listing for my company.
From six months ago and until now when I do a search for my company it takes me into the open directory where there are thousands upon thousands of listings but I can still never run across mine.

My question is, am I doing the search properly. Can someone tell me how to find my company name with pinpoint accuracy.
Of course, I don't know if my company name was ever incorporated in DMOZ.

Thanks everyone, Mike

There was a confirmation on the final screen of the submission process.

To search for a URL in our directory, just look for domain.tld (eg google.com) without any http or www prefixes.

Your reply doesn't tell me how to find it with in the DMOZ. If so please be more pacific.

1. got0 http://www.dmoz.org/
2. enter your url (in the format domain.tld) in the search box and click the "search" button
3. if you see the your website listed under "Open Directory Sites" than click the category path. That is the category your website is listed in. [if you can't see your website in this list that it is not listed (yet) or not with that domain.tld)

Thanks, World/Nederlands for that information. When I put my URL in the search box it doesn't tell me whether I'm listed or not. It only takes me into these search engines or directories: My URL then search on: - AltaVista - A9 - AOL - Clusty - Gigablast - Google - Lycos - Bing - Teoma - Wisenut - Yahoo.

I'm not sure if it's telling me I'm listed with DMOZ or am only listed with the above mentioned directories. Its a little confusing to me.

Oh yeah, thanks for not mentioning me using the word "Pacific" instead of "specific".

Thanks for your time, Mike

If you see nothing except the line with

"domain.tld" search on: ........

Than we could not find anything on DMOZ with the search string.
It is a service to you which means: "we did not find anything on DMOZ, you might try these searchenigines for more luck"

Try a search with for instance goolge.com and you will see the difference.

I have tried registering with DMOZ for nearly three years now without any success. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I find out why my site has never been listed? Thanks in advance. I have a Google PR4.

Probably not - unless you self-check it's listability. If it's listable, we'll list it in time. If not, not.

What's PR? It's not something we ever look at.

Him Jim - sorry PR is Google Page Rank

I have checked your url link and think we meet the criteria so I will just keep on submitting I guess. However I have noticed there are some sites in DMOZ that just go to a landing page i.e. not a real site and have done for months?

Thanks for responding however.

.

Our submission guidelines require that you suggest a website just once to the one best category. Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

However I have noticed there are some sites in DMOZ that just go to a landing page

I shall immediately go and check every one of our millions of listings by hand :p.

.. or you could visit the QC section of this forum and report the details :).
