For some competative keywords - We have been noticing a tremendous amount of traffic from
Dmoz Search as oppossed to the directory results

{moz} http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=

What are the algoritms or factors that influence the search results,
We want to post them on our site

No component of any web page can possibly affect the dmoz search in any way, since the search doesn't look at pages nor at cached copies of them.

It's a directory search, which will find results based on url, title and description as listed in the directory. These only affect the presence of a result, the order of presented results is entirely undefined.

There is no algorithm. It just lists categories and sites found in the directory. No special order (or none that anyone could ever deduce from the results), no ranking, no sorting, no bias, no optimisation, just a list.

The ODP is not a search engine. It is a directory. Sites are grouped together by subject and placed into a category. The categories are arranged in a tree structure to help you get from the top level, down to the one that you require. The search function is there to find categories without having to navigate through and along that directory tree structure. The fact that the search also lists a few sites in the results is to be regarded as a "feature".
