I think they are just winding us all up a bit - they are even talking about these guys on Google Groups:

There was a related thread over on Webmasterworld a few months back.

It's just one crank with a grudge. Best ignored.

Actually that's not a real 404 page. Look at in Mozilla and you'll see why . Real Geocities 404 pages look like http://www.geocities.com/dmozpolice/404
