Difficult to "be" an editor? Or difficult to "become" an editor?

Not at all. Just find a category you would like to edit and that is small enough to be given to a new editor. Find 3 sites that fit in that category and that are not listed yet. Write some decent titles and descriptions. Tell us about yourself and be honest about it. O, and write the whole application in a language you are cable of writing without spelling or grammar errors (and that ofcourse matches the category you are applying for).
If you can manage to write a letter of application for a job you should be able to write the application to become an editor.

It all depends on what you mean with this question.
In total over 80.000 people have at one time helped us build the directory.
Currently we have, I guess, some 6 to 7000 people who actively edit. But some are much more active than others.

thanks,pvgool.

so they are a lot of people being editors. How many Thai editors are there?

I saw a lot of Thai categories that have no editor and I really want to help about that.

Actually I am an editor for a while but I think the catergory I choosed is limited. In addition, there are many catergories related without editor. Moreover, I read from some forums in a website and it said "It's watsing time to add your website in the ODP, because not much Thai editors to approve your web". I felt sad when they thought ODP was not useful.

I have requested to an editor of the 1-level-upper catergorie but my applications was rejected. the reason is like I didn't translate the descriptions of website to my language because the web owners posted them in English language and I thought it should be ok.

Can I request to be an editor of other catergories again?

If you are already an editor I advise you go to the internal forum and ask for a category review. You could even ask for a mentor (see New Editor forum) to help you. If you would like more guidance to the correct forum parts please contact me through the editor internal mail option. <<added>>I have send you an email<</added>>

If your editor position expired you can aks for reinstatement.

O, and if you are an active editor you should request to let your RZ profile to be changed from member to editor. See http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30357

Hi sukhontika. Since you are an editor, it's better to ask these questions in the internal editor forum.

But yes, you can certainly apply to be an editor of more categories, however you should read the feedback you got carefully - as an editor, it is your responsibility to add sites with titles and descriptions that conform to the guidelines. Part of that is using the right language; titles and descriptions must be in English in the English-language part of the directory, but in the Thai part, it must be in Thai. The people who send in sites for review do not decide what the title and description should be in the directory, and if they provide English descriptions, you need to rewrite them in Thai. That way, the directory does become much more useful. :)

Again, please ask these questions in the internal forums, or don't hesitate to get in touch with me or some other senior editor if you have questions. :)
