OK great forum guys. Although I have trwaled the forum I didnt find an answer to my question, please accept my appologies if this is covered elsewhere.

If a catergory has not got an editor listed (i.e bottom of page shows volunteer) Is it a waste of time submitting to that catergory? If so what should be done, should you move to a higher level catergory?

Thanks and keep up the good work, especialy you editors, phew what a thankless task :)

The answer is in the Forum FAQ: check out http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_site_questions#faq_no_editor

As it happens, I was doing some Google searches this morning, for a potential future category where I wouldn't be listed as editor (because I'm editor for the grandparent category). But I got distracted, and ended up creating a category under a different top-level topic several thousand miles away where I'll NEVER be listed as editor.

Having followed the FAQ link and read the content, I think I am now depressed and have a lot of work to do! I just wish that DMOZ had a policy of sending a message to let people like me know that at least their site had been checked even if it was found wanting!

If a website is listable, we'll list it in time - which could be anywhere from a few days to a few years.
If a website isn't listable, we won't.

You can already determine for yourself whether or not your website is listable by checking it against our site selection criteria. An email would thus serve no useful purpose :).

No problem. Just pretend you just got that notice. Figure out what you would do.

Then go do it, RIGHT NOW! Don't wait for the ODP volunteers to do something, when your site is completely in your control.

I believe this process always yields the best action for the website, in the shortest possible time. And it's amazing how liberated you'll feel when you find yourself responsible to yourself for your own actions.
