Does URL age have any significance?

I have designed a website which I beleive will be useful for students in my country. My website complies with Dmoz requirements but I have purchased the domain name just a month ago and even Google hasn't indexed it yet. Is it necessary to have an older domain name for getting indexed by Dmoz or is that just an auxiliary issue? Thanks.

No.

We don't look at the age at all, we look at the content.

However, a very young blog or forum is unlikely to have enough content to be listed.

I believe that domain age does have significance as it is a sign about the reliability of the website. Websites that have been online since 1999 and below always get preferential treatment by search engines because of there domain age and on the other end of the spectrum, websites that have been created only recently will be sandboxed by google until such a time when they have proved themselves to be "worthy of a listing". If you are interested regarding domain age I have written this topic in more detail on my blog which identify how to find out your domain age and what it could mean to your business. Hope you find it interesting..

We're not a search engine, and our human volunteers look at the content on a site, not the age of the domain when reviewing it for possible listing.
