As most when you start a website you want instant success. I created a classified Ads site which really didnt have any ads (content). I quickly submitted it to Dmoz, and checked the dmoz directory every 10 minutes for the first week. After a month nothing was really happening on my site, I thought, nobody can find my site when searching on the internet so how can i get ads (content) ?
Five months later and I have learned a lot. Slowly i have been getting ads, I have been delivering flyers, using google adwords, and adding my site to other directories.
Mistakes I made.
1. Not putting up content first. I think getting content up first and then submitting a site to Dmoz is the best.
2. Not spending time on a good title and description.
3. I quickly added my site to Dmoz putting it into the wrong category. Two weeks later I re-submitted the site again.
Avoid the above.
