Hello ...

In some of some web sites i have designed i
have used a dot "." as a spacer in many instances...
either to seperate rows inside a table etc... the dot is always the same colour as the table or background, so you dont see the spacer.

my question is this...
does a dot "." that is the same colour as the background get my page banned ?
could or is the engine spider confusing it with "hidden" words.. ??

sometimes i use many "dots" in order to seperate tables etc..

i noticed some of my sites have been ignored.

Hope to hear your speedy reply so i can make corrections to my work as soon as possible.
Thkx..

ODP is edited by humans, there is no search engine spider. So it does not matter.

Alternative spacer

Hi

Here's a site which I find useful for information on Search Engine Optimisation: http://www.webproworld.com
I get emails daily with new forums discussing "does and don'ts" for search engines.

Until recently I've been using images for spacers but now I tend to avoid using images without any alt text.
What I use now is a block element such as a DIV.
I will then give the DIV a style which will set it's height and width for me I can then reuse the style over and over.

Example HTML:<div class="spacer16px"> </div>
Example CSS:.spacer16px { width: 16px; height: 16px }

I'm not 100% sure if using the same font colour as your background will cause you to be banned but it's one thing I myself avoid.
