Dumb submission idea, but should I let it go...

I submitted a site that in retrospect I should not have... it would be unique to the directory but it is merely an edited version of a much longer faq. (Other bits and pieces of this faq probably are in the directory, but not as a "site".) In other words, it's unique but probably not "unique enough." I compounded this error by (I didn't realize it at the time) submitting it to a category that shows no edits since December 2000. I have been thinking that this is just as well and was going to forget about it, but I do want to do things right since I have made other (non-dumb) submissions.

The one dumb submission isn't horribly awful, so... should I just forget about it? Or is there something I should do about it?

We can always remove it if you think it's that bad.

I don't think it is awful. It's just that I must have glazed over the word "unique" on the submissions page, probably because this is the only page on my site not written by me!

My main point is I don't want one semi-bad apple that slightly breaks the rules to hurt any other submissions I might make now or for eternity.

Anyway, specifically what should I do? I'm a newbie on this board so I don't know about private mailing anybody or if I could just put the category and page in a message. Thanks.

Re: Dumb submission idea, but should I let it go..

I removed several of the posts from this thread because the information provided wasn't wholly accurate.

Sites are not evaluated strictly on the basis of whether or not they have affiliate links. To imply otherwise is inaccurate. When evaluating a site, editors look for unique content, with the caveat that affiliate links do not count toward "unique content." Therefore a site with one or two sentences about a topic, and 10,000 affiliate links would not be listed. However once a site has met the threshold of the unique content test, whether or not affiliate links are used on the site becomes irrelevant (as long as they don't overwhelm the unique content). I looked at the sites you provided, and IMHO there is enough unique content there to justify a listing whether or not you actually have affiliate links.

It is apeuro's opinion that there is enough unique content on those pages to justify a listing, however listing depends on editor discretion, and other editors might not feel the same. Approval from a senior editor does not guarantee a listing.

Thanks for the various help. I think I have a good idea for how to make things work best in the future.
