Editing web site descriptions

Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but I couldn't see anywhere else to post this, so here goes.

I have two listings for my site, each with a similar, extremely outdated, description.

We were more graphic design back long ago and have gravitated into almost all web design and especially SEO and Social Media Optimization.

Google decides to use the outdated descriptions in our search results, and that has to be depressing clickthroughs. I've tried the standard methods of changing the descriptions several times over the past couple of years but nothing has ever happened.

HELP!!! What do I do?? This is a real drag. The penalties of being an early adopter. We've been open for 21 years.

Update requests with titles and descriptions that meet our editor guidelines are usually accepted. Those that are in any way propmotional or hyped tend to be shot on sight. By all means try again but, obviously, avoid promotional language.

Also, you might like to research the NOODP metatag. Several search engines honour it.

I have something of a different problem. I have a listing that properly
displays when I enter the URL on the dmoz.org home page and click <search>
But this is an old URL and I want to replace it with a new one.
When I click "Update listing" and enter the existing URL that
appears on the regional page, I receive
a "URL not found response!" so i can't ask for the change.

Any help on thns inconsistency would be appreciated.

Our search, designed principally for finding categories is rather out of date - it's likely that the old URL has already been changed/removed.
When its database updates properly this annoying inconsistency should disappear.
