Editor Application Status: mcdope

Greetings,

I applied to become an editor two weeks ago, received the registration key and further confirmation email. The category I applied for is:

http://dmoz.org/Games/Video_Games/Simulation/Flight/Orbiter/

I'm a bit concerned that some mail messages may have been lost in this period since I had to migrate my site to another host provider and my email account is now an alias instead of a proper address (the confirmation message for my registration at this forum arrived properly, though). The propagation time for the DNS change may have complicated things as well. I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm whether my application is still waiting on the queue.

Thanks for your time and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Marisa,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply and for dealing with my application so fast. I sincerely appreciate your comments and your pointers to useful threads and resources for editors. I'll be reading all this information very carefully in the next few days and I hope that from that tiny category I can be a worthy contributor to the ODP. I'll do my best to make it so.

Regards

Welcome!

Don't be overwhelmed with the sheer volume of information available to help you edit. Read through the editor forums to try to start making sense of things. Most questions have been asked before, but if you get totally stuck there is a forum for New Editors where no question is ever considered to be silly. It takes at least a few weeks or months to settle into the job; and even the people who have been here for years are still learning.

Thanks for your comments. I was indeed overwhelmed by the ammount of threads and resources available but after a few hours reading here and there, things started to fit in quite nicely. I was pleasantly surprised by the activity at the editor forums, as you well say there're lots of interesting and useful threads over there. It will still take me some time to digest most of this information but that won't be a problem. Fortunately, the cat I've chosen to start with is a very quiet one so time won't be an issue.

Thanks again...
