editor application status

Hello and thanks in advance for a quick response,
About October 9, I submitted an editor application for the category
http://dmoz.org/Home/Personal_Finance/Tax_Preparation/Tax_Preparers/
I believe my user name was mhughesea.
I received a confirmation email saying that my application had been received but I have heard nothing since.
I'd really like to know the status of the application so I can reapply if need be.

As an editor with an interest in tax preparation, I wish you luck -- however, the category has a LOT of unreviewed entries (about 3 times as many as reviewed), and may be considered too large for a beginning editor.

But I'm not on the decision team.

Thanks to both of you for the quick replies. I know that the category might be a little large, but I think that part of the problem is that it has been without an active editor for some time. Is it possible to get some idea of how much longer it would be before the application were approved or denied?

There's no way to tell how long it will take. It could be tomorrow, it could be weeks. Right now we have a couple hundred applications waiting to be reviewed. The applications are reviewed by volunteers who have different areas of expertise so there is really no way to determine when any particular application will get looked at. All I can say is to be patient
