Editor application

I have just posted my application to become an editor but when I reply to the email I get a failed delivery response reporting that the recipient was rejected be the server. Does anyone know what is going on?
The subject line contains a number of none keyboard characters and there are some more at the top of the message field. Is this as it should be?
I am using Microsoft Outlook does this make any difference?

If you look at any of the other threads in this area you will see that we are having some problems with editor applications at the moment. There seems to be a few different problems that hopefully will be resolved soon.

I resubmitted my application over an hour ago and have still not received an address verification email. More importantly though, at the moment, I spotted a typo error in the URL for my own web page. The system will not allow me to resubmit and thereby overwrite the original application so I imagine that the best thing I can do is wait until the submission times out and then resubmit the corrected version. Does anyone know how long this might take? Any other suggestions?

(I don't know if there are any current problems, just a general advice)
If you or your provider have a spam filter up and running, you could check if it filtered the mail - sometimes this happens with ODP mail.

We would need to know the username you used and the category that you were applying for to pass on to tech support.

Since you did get the confirmation e-mail on your first attempt, I don't imagine that it's a spam filter issue. I've passed this info on to tech support.

For my second attempt I used a different email address on a new account with a different ISP. Maybe this cant be ruled out.

If it was an ISP with a spam filter then maybe it can't be ruled out :( Do you have access to your spam folder on the ISP? Regardless, our tech support will probably have to reject the app, and you'll have to re-apply using an e-mail address that you know will work. Hopefully they will be able to nudge that first application out too so you'll be able to use that original e-mail address. You're going to have to be patient on this. Could possibly be a few days.

I have checked with my ISP and there is a spam filter but it has not been enabled. I have also tested the email address by mailing myself. There dont seem to be any problems.
Thanks for your help.

The application process does seem to be working. The application is sending out e-mails to applicants. Yours seems to be one that has vanished into never-never land :)

I've been instructed to tell you to send an e-mail to apply@dmoz.org with a subject of opendir - f3dccabba9433b4392a92dcb23cbe4d3.

Emails seem to be like buses today- none for ages then three come along at once. My email finaly arrived, five hours late followed by another an hour and twenty minutes after that. These both contain the same ticket number you mentioned.

This only leaves that typo error on my application. When a reviewer tries to access my web site they will get a "page not found" notification because I pressed a wrong key when filling out the form. Unfortunately I did not spot this until after I hit the submit button. I did mention however that this site is awaiting review in the category I am applying to edit. I am afraid that this might affect my chances of the application being successful. Should I just proceed with the application and hope for the best?

Thanks again

At this point you don't have much choice. You're going to have to reply to that e-mail so that the application gets moved into the queue. At that point if we catch it before someone looks at it, one of us can attach a note for the reviewer to look here for the explanation of the incorrect URL. Otherwise, we can reject it once it reaches the queue and you can do it all over. Nothing can be done until you reply to that e-mail.

The application is waiting to be reviewed, and I made note of your correct URL :)
