Editor Name reservation, reverse request?

Hi,

I am a ChefMoz editor, and also have an interest in applying for a dMoz category. Editor names are reserved as unique across both systems, so there is a form where dMoz editors can submit to cross the line and become a ChefMoz editor (although I've never seen it, I've heard of it). I'm wondering if someone could point me to a similar form to request dMoz editor status from a ChefMoz editor account?

This way, I can use my same userid, as dMoz editors can on ChefMoz.

Thank you,
Gary Allen

There is no reverse form. Being a ChefMoz editor doesn't guarantee you a place as an ODP editor. You need to apply like everyone else using the usual new editor application link in the category you'd like to edit. Feel free to mention that you're a ChefMoz editor in the application but expect that to have no effect whatsoever on the review of your application. So make sure that you fill out the application carefully. Check out the FAQs up at the top of this forum as well.

... and ChefMoz user-IDs are not automatically unavailable in the ODP. So if your name is not taken yet, feel free to use it when applying.

Thank you.

motsa, I really didn't expect that my post would impress an expectation of automatic acceptance. If it did, I humbly appologize. I swear, that I read the FAQ and did a search for the information I was looking for... I was not expecting a streamlined application, merely a version of the same application where the username is pre-applied.

WindHarp, thank you for relaying this information. A new ChefMoz editor account cannot use a dMoz editor name (even if the dMoz editor's account is completely in-active) it's interesting to find that the same doesn't apply in reverse. I had wrongly assumed that it would.

Re: Thank you.

ChefMoz was really put into play after the ODP was well entrenched. The sharing of the ID information is strictly one way (I think originally at least partly as a way of encouraging ODP editors to put in a little time at ChefMoz without a hassle).

And I apologize if I misread your post. :)
