Editor to Meta?

What are the steps in the path from new editor to meta? Who decides who gets promoted to each new level?

Edit according to guidelines.
Be helpful and courteous in the forum.
Show that you have the good of the directory at heart.
As you go along apply for larger categories to edit.
Sooner or later one of the high level editors will notice the work you do. Not long after that you will start to move up the ladder.

I'm sure others will expand on this.

Some additional things are:

* Have a good knowledge of directory structure, ontology and taxonomy.
* Work for the good of the directory and not your own /images/icons/wink.gif
* Always be helpful and a good mentor. After all knowledge is useless if we do not share it with others.

There are several steps that can be taken from editor to meta, including cateditall, editall, editall/CATMV and catmod, though many editors choose not to be promoted as meta can be both challenging and time consuming.

The promotion process to the aforementioned permissions are up to staff, who get feedback from metas.
