I just discovered that a site I registered some time ago has been registered so thank you very much.

However with out wishing to seem ungrateful I have a few comments based on this registration which I think are relevant to the community.

1: It doesn’t yet appear in the DMOZ search engine. How often does the search index get updated with new entries ?

2: The text I requested isn’t included. While i thought it was relevant clearly I tried to load it with too many keywords and your editor has changed it which is fair enough and accepted. However I am surprised that the replacement text chosen.

-: It identifies store individuals names which could cause problems later on if those individuals change
-: how does the name of 3 individuals who works in the store rank as more valuable or relevant to your readers than the products or services that the store delivers ?
-: is it wise to refer to the number of years in business when that will change (or become untrue) in your directory in a years time ?

The text used was taken from the Divine "about" webpage and is true and OK. However on the website the names are in addition to the products and services not instead of.

From my point of view if the store changes or adds staff or another year passes I change the web page in 24 hours. I am pretty sure that based on your workload changing the DMOZ entry will take me a long time, cause an out of date entry and your editors work which is bad for everyone.

I would think one useful editorial guideline would be try and avoid referring to content, individuals ,services or time in very specific terms when they can change .

Thank you anyway for the listing.

DMOZ search is usually updated about weekly. Or, more to the point: the search engine gets its results from the RDF dump which is generated about weekly. Occasionally it takes longer, when there is a problem with the RDF.

I'll leave it to an editor with experience in Regional/ to reply to the description issue - I think you are making a very fair point about the use of changing information in a description, but that is my opinion (which is mine, which belongs to me.)

I went to check it and it had already been altered. One question though - is there a Malaysian store. The site says there is, but doesn't give an address, which would lead me to question it (as in fact it has). :)

Updates to the public page can take up to 4 days depending on which server you get. Nea was correct about the search updates being a minimum of weekly. (The original listing was 6 Dec).

The DMOZ internal search engine updates roughly weekly. As long as you see the site listed in a category, don't worry about the search engine. It's mostly used by editors and submitters looking for their own sites.

Our guidelines say to avoid information that could easily go out of date.

[Good descriptions] do not use specific dates, prices, time-sensitive numbers, or similar information that is subject to change. End-users do not like to find links that have inacurate and out-dated annotations.

The description has been changed to be more compliant with our guidelines and the public page will show the new description in a few days.
