Hello there,
I have noticed that most categories for Romania have no editor and sites are waiting forever in submission status. This is not good for the relevance of the sites included as they get old and new ones don't get in. Not only me, but lots of people I know would get in as editors and help, but they are denied.
What do you plan to do about this region?

The same as we plan to do with all other areas.
When an editor is interested enoug to work in the area he/she will. We can not force editors to give attention for specific areas.
Ofcourse when someone is interested in editing and writes a decent application he/she will be accepted. But such an application must show that this person has a basic understanding of the DMOZ guidelines, is honest (do not hide who you are and with which sites you are associated) and is able to write a complete (all questions answered and preferably 3 sample websites) application using the correct language.

If you did apply to become an editor you will have recieved an email with possible reasons for the rejection. Being able to determine which of those common reasons is valid for you and solve the issues can be seen as part of the application process. It is much like the tasks an editor will have to perform each day.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, maybe is better having an editor without experience then not having one at all. The inexperienced one you can train and guide till he gets to be a pro. Lacking editors it bad...
I've just applied for such a position and I think I have all the necessary category qualifications and a lot of time to achieve it. I'm not really sure how technically suited I am though. Could anyone give me a hand here?

New editors are always inexperienced, so we can only accept inexperienced editors and train them Although don't expect to much about "training". We do not have courses you must follow. It is more a case of peer reviews and help by your fellow editors. That is why new editors must show a basic understanding of DMOZ.
Editors do not need any technical knowledge. Writing correctly in the chosen language and clicking a button is all that is needed.

Could anyone give me a hand here?
The editors who evaluate the applications are also volunteers. Normaly applications are processed within a few hours to a few weeks. But it all comes down to a Meta editor looking at your application. An exact time frame can not be given
