I recently applied to edit this neglected category, but was turned down. As there is no option to reply to the rejection letter, I've decided to post here in the hope that the right people will see this.
One of the reasons my application was rejected was that 'you have
chosen a category that is already well represented', which completely baffles me. The Arts/Visual_Arts/Collage/ category hasn't been updated in two years or more and contains only 12 listings. To say that it is 'well represented' is ridiculous. Or has my application to edit this category been interpreted as an application to edit the sub-categories too - 'Artists', 'Assemblage Art', 'Digital Collage', and 'Photo Montage'? Only one of those categories has an editor, so they're just as neglected as the main category. However, I am not applying to edit those categories, only the main 'Collage' one.
The rejection letter also states that "we would encourage you to re-apply
for a category that has fewer editors or is smaller in scope, in order
to increase your chances of being accepted.".
As I've already said, a category can't get fewer editors than none, so perhaps the category is considered unnecessarily broad?
Any explanation or further detail would be very much appreciated.
