Eek! Have I done it wrong?!

I am very new to websites, but was told to submit to the ODP, so I duly did. I waited a bit, then read that you need to resubmit if nothing happens after a couple of weeks. Then read if you submit to a catagory with no editor you won't get listed, so I submitted to a slightly different catagory (but still highly relevant) with an editor. Then I read if you submit the same site to different catagories, you can be accused of spam and am now worrying I have totally fluffed it up!!! Can anyone put my mind at rest, or do I need to write a letter explaining my errors so I don't get blacklisted?

Everything you read was wrong.

You submit once to the single best catgegory.

The presence or absence of a named editor is irrelevant.

A single extra submission is not punishable by death -- maybe a dirty look or two, but that is it.

There are many external forums that have incorrect information on them.

In the main, you should beware of any stuff that isn't written by current editors.

Great, but just to further clarify one small point. We don't do any notifications. If we add your site to the directory, it gets added and that is that. If we don't add it, we don't tell you of that decision. If it languishes for a few years in a seemingly bottomless pit of submittals, we don't tell you about that either. (We are pretty consistent in the not telling anyone anything department.)

Sooooooooo, your best bet is to periodically browse through the directory and look to see if your site is listed.
