Elapsed time query

Hi peeps.


I understand the guidance is that one should suggest a site just once and leave it at that. I also understand that there are certain standards which a site is expected to meet in order to be listed within the directory.

However, is there a period of time after which it may be considered reasonable to resubmit?

I ask only since I suggested my site for consideration in 2008. The category I selected is correct, my site meets all criteria/standards and there are fewer listings in the category than has been cited as the usual (though I gather that, too, isn't set in stone). The category has been updated a few times during that period, though I have reported some dead links recently, which remain.

Whilst I realise it's been quite a while since I suggested my site (just once) and that it may have disappeared from the list of those under consideration, I also appreciate the purpose of this forum is not to give site-specific updates... so I won't ask. However, I've no idea whether or not it's simply become lost in the system, so some guidance would be welcomed.


In short, am I okay to resubmit after seven years?

Another single suggestion for the site would not be considered to be spam, so you are safe to do so, but do note that a new suggestion will move the site lower down on the list of sites in the category to be reviewed. Chances are that the category sites have just not been looked at recently by an editor.

I suspect I may no longer be on the list of pending sites because the category now includes a site which was suggested by me only a year or so ago (not a site belonging to me, btw - just one which I thought would be very appropriate and useful to users, and I think a lot of people will now benefit from its inclusion).

I must admit, I am tempted to resubmit mine on the chance that my original submission has gone astray or has been overlooked - which is seeming increasingly likely.

All the same though, I'd hate to still be in this position fourteen years down the line for the sake of being too insistent.

There is no harm in suggesting the website once more.
If the old suggestion is still waiting it will be overwritten by the new one.

BTW suggestions may not be processed in order of suggestion date

Thanks for that, pvgool. On balance, it seems sensible - so I've just now resubmitted to the appropriate category... fingers crossed!

I had also noticed a couple of dead links in that category. I've flagged them up so the editor can check them out too.
