Error - No such editor

When I click on an editors profile and goto send them a message, why would I get this message?

Error
No such editor

Why would this editors profile exists if he/she wasn't an editor??

No idea. Please PM the editor name to me.

<added>I've just done a test from the public side with a known ex editor. The system won't send the mail.

As has previously been explained here, we don't remove the profiles of ex editors.</added>

If you get that message, it means that the editor is no longer active.

Ok, thanks ever so much. Just out of interest, why is their profile still accessible?

EDIT: Ok thanks, answers my questions. Even picked the right editor's forum posts! I best find another way of getting in touch with him then.
