I have a company that supplies entertainment for corporate and private events. I have been submitting the site for a few years with no luck. Now I noticed there is an issue with gambling sites...so this must be why my site hasn't been listed.
My company does casino parties. Just for fun no money is involved. This is completely legal!
We supply everything from performers, murder mysteries and so much more, a part is the casinos.
When submitting my site to Google and yahoo we were declined just cause the word casino was on the site but after being review by them again it was obvious that this was for fun and we were approved.
I need help on how to get dmoz to check my site more thoroughly and see its legit

Well, we list casinos in the Regional section of the Directory, so, I don't believe there's any such problem with being associated with gambling there, :) .

If you have a brick and mortar location, or provide "go-to" services in a particular area, you might want to submit a site suggestion to the Regional section of the Directory. An editor will eventually get around to reviewing it, and if he decides it's unique enough to be listed, he'll know where to place it or send it.

I seriously doubt that any such association with gambling or casinos would keep you from being listed in any part of the Directory. It's more likely that an editor just hasn't reviewed it yet. If you qualify, however, you could be listed in both a Topical category, such as Business, and also within the Regional section of the Directory.

New Suggestions

Its been 4 years and Ive submitted the site a few times and nothing. The category used has not been regional its always been under event entertainment (which makes sense) any suggestions on what to do?

If you have not suggested your site since the crash in October last year resuggesting the site once more to the topical category will not be seen as spam.

As crowbar said you may also suggest it to an appropriate regional category based on your locality.

We cannot say how long it will take before it is reviewed in either but at least you will have twice the chance.

A good description will help the editor so if it clearly states something on the lines of 'provides entertainment for corporate and private events in the form of casino parties' then they will approach the review expecting to see that you do that. No doubt they will modify the description you supply but at least you will be sure they will not assume that you are a casino ( :) though it should be clear from the site).

Once you have suggested them, please forget about dmoz and go on promoting your site in other ways. We have no way of predicting when your site will be reviewed. One day they will be reviewed and, hopefully listed and it will come as a surprise.

Trust me I haven't waiting around for them to list me. In fact they are the only site that aren't listing us. Although it would be nice to finally show up naturally on the sites dmoz has control over.

We have control over only one site: dmoz.org. Yes, our data may be used on others but that doesn't mean we have control over them.
