false database entry

Hi at DMOZ

My name is being listed under a false (corrupt?) database entry. The website (<url removed>) on this entry has long been removed by DMOZ, but a reference to my name still comes up on top of the DMOZ search results. I emailed DMOZ about this, but got no reply. I since tried to suggest my own website under my name, but that had no effect either.

Now because of this false DMOZ entry all web searches done for my name come up in reference this website I have nothing to do with.
Which in turn is quite reputation-damaging given that I'm a web producer, and this particular website being a total eye (and info) sore. Even the DMOZ description is false.

Please - help! Let me know how to get rid of this entry/reference in DMOZ.
many thanks for any support

The search database is, unfortunately, out-of-date. We don't have any idea or control over when it will be brought up-to-date so I'm afraid you're going to have to just wait until it is -- there's nothing we can do to correct it.

Hi Motsa

Thanks for your honest answer.

One question I would still have: What must I do to at least have my own website listed in DMOZ -preferably above that false entry- when a search is done for my name?
For only this reason I had submitted my personal website (URL removed) to DMOZ, but to no effect.

Again many thanks for your help
regards
iris

There is nothing you can do, except suggesting the right websites. And that is something you already have done.
An editor will look at the suggestion and decide if it is listable. We do not know when that will happen.
And than the search needs to be updated. As Motsa wrote, at the moment serach is broken and we (the editors) do not know when it will be repaired. It is something AOL must do, and they are aware of the problem.
