Hi,
I am a complete novice and have recently built my first website. I intended to submit it today for inclusion in your directory but when I conducted a search it appeared to be included already. i know I visited your site a couple of weeks ago but didn't think I had successfully completed the application.
Could someone please check the apparent entry and let me know if I am correct in thinking I do not need to try and submit again.
The website concerned is <url removed>
Thank you.

When you suggested your website, the final screen of the transaction will have said:
Your site submission has been received.

An editor will review your submission for inclusion in the directory.

Once your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search, AltaVista, HotBot, Google, Lycos, Netscape Search, etc. We make updates of the data available weekly, but each partner has their own update schedule.

etc etc

If you didn't see that, suggest it one more time

If a search shows a website to be listed, visit the category which is mentioned with the website.
Do you see the website in that category. Than it is listed.
And if it is listed there is no need to suggest it again.
Websites are not only listed as a result of a suggestion. Many websites are listed as a result of an editor finding the website through some other source.

Wow your lucky...I have been trying to submit one site several times...it makes me wonder if the moderator isnt my competition and purposely denying my link..Wouldnt know because Dmoz apparently dont care enough to send out emails that explain whether or not you have been denied or accepted and why.

That is not true.
We tell everybody before they suggest a website which type of websites we will list and which type we won't.
You even are asked to confirm that you have read those guidelines.
Here is a link with the guidelines editors use. http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html
There is no need to tell people that sites that are mentioned in those guidelines as those that will not be listed are not listed.
And all other websites will eventualy be listed. Due to the enormous numbers it is impossible to tell when a website will be listed. It can be tomorrow, it can be over several years. For DMOZ such time frames are not a problem as we are not about listing websites but about creating usefull categories.
