Forum Categories Sense?

I could not understand the sense of 2 discussion subjects,

General ODP Issues:-
I didn't read a single reply from Admin, Editors to feedback in positive. I mean to say if I will say to check the category like "Top: Business" to edit then I will get reply, "any editor will check whenever he will get time". Did you get me, I mean to say if editor will check whenever he will decide then what is the reason to open this forum category. I think only locked annoucements will be enough, as like "Important" sticky thread on top.

Suggesting a Site:-
If anyone can not comment, get information or request about his website to submit then it should be stop for new threads. Only "Important" sticky threads are enough.

I need suggestions.

You are right. If people would read the FAQ and the sticky threads they would not have to ask the same questions over and over and we would not have to answer these questions with the same answers. Can you tell me how we can get people to read those and not ask the questions we can (and will) not answer in detail.

To be fair, a few posts are asking for help on topics not covered by the FAQ. They make a refreshing change for the editors here who are usually happy to respond with authoritative general advice .

I agreee with jimnoble that haviong those forums open for public questions is a good thing, but I understand what editpk means.

If the 100th person asks the same question, I am usually torn between a "Read the FAQ entry <link goes here>" answer and removing the thread and sending a "Read the FAQ" feedback. But in the end I think it's better to keep the threads.

Crazy suggestion: We could try a forum like "Questions answered in the FAQ", where we move those threads that clobber our main forums, leaving an expiring redirect so that the thread starter has a chance to find his thread again. Of course that would create a lot of additional moderation work...

Counter-crazy suggestion: It may be less work if we worked in reverse; manually pulling out the interesting questions from the pool of "Already answered in the FAQ" postings...
