Forwarding main domain name to my own subdomain

Hi,

I've read submission guidelines and it says not to submit a domain that's being forwarded. I understand if they're talking about not submitting a domain that forwards to another domain. But what about a situation where you forward one subdomain within your domain to another subdomain?

Here's my specific example:

I own ?????.com and of course, the most common way of identifying the site is www.?????.com However, my site is an online gourmet food store that uses a hosted ecommerce platform that resides at shop.?????.com

The majority of the content of the site is on shop.?????.com (we also have news.?????.com and media.?????.com but it's all related and part of the same site under www.?????.com)

SO, www.?????.com forwards to shop.?????.com

We promote www.?????.com and that's how people typically link to us.

I'd like to submit my site to DMOZ but I don't want to get excluded because I submit www.?????.com and someone complains that it's forwarding.

What should I do?

Thanks very much in advance.

Volunteers don't complain about any suggestion, because there is no feedback to the person who suggests it.
Neither do we "exclude" websites, provided they meet our inclusion criteria and follow the suggestion instructions.

Just suggest the main URL of your site, once, to the most specific category you can find. There is nothing more you need to do. :)
When the suggestion is reviewed by an editor, he or she will decide if it is suitable for listing, and which URL is most appropriate.

Thanks for the reply.

So in my example, would you consider www.???.com to be the main URL or would you consider shop.????.com to be my main URL?

Thanks again.

URLs like shop.site.com or media.site.com are called "subdomains" of site.com. Using subdomains is a very common way to spread the content of a website over several different URLs, but in almost every case the ODP will list just site.com because that is much less likely to disappear during site revisions.
It is up to the webmaster to provide helpful navigation to each subdomain or internal page, or not, as he chooses. :)
