Hi guys, I own and draw all the content for <URL removed per forum T&C>, its a spare time project I created for my daughter, when she was little. I have been running it for five years now and each year have submitted it to Dmoz.

I'm pretty good at writing copy and I have other sites that are listed on Dmoz, with no problems, so I'm just wondering why I can get listed for that site. My site gets well over 5.5 million page views a year, so at a guess its not that my sites poor in content. I do spend allot of time drawing a good selection for kids of all ages and I help loads of charities from all around the world on a regular basis letting them use my drawings for colouring competitions etc, I have some ads on there but no pop ups and I wont tolerate and crappy ads that are not themed to my viewers.

Just a bit annoyed that everytime I apply to be featured under the colouring/coloring section I never get listed, its got to be one of two things either you guys dont have an editor for that section or the person who runs it is a competitor and they know a link from you guys has value in SEO terms.

Any help or ideas are appreciated

Cheers
Dave

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply, I do understand how it works (one of my friends used to be a 'volunteer') Do you have any solution to how I would get my site listed then, with respect 5 years is quiet a long time. Is applying to be an editor for my related section deemed as ok?

Thanks again for the reply

You don't 'get' your website listed. Rather we choose whether or not to list it.

If 'your' section is suitable for a new editor, by all means apply. Be sure to actually read the application form and its questions before answering the.
