Game site editing

Hello

As "Laurie the DeepMinded", I admin the Offical Website of Human Head Studios Viking Age third person game "Rune"/Rune: Halls of Valhalla. I have been doing this for the last six years now since joining the site in February 2000 and helped in it's development as a historical advisor. Rune was released October 31, 2000

While going though your Open Directory for something else, I noticed "Rune" was included in your listings and took a look to see what had been included under:

It is only my intention to update the above pages with a couple of overall general Rune resource sites under the first one. And update/add a few more to the RuneClan listing. The last time any of these were updated was over three years ago.

I went to see about becoming an editor to fix a broken link But your "Editor Application Page" is down. I have since read you are having problems with your server. Believe me, I do understand what a headache that can be after going through a similar "dustup" with our server host in late 2004.

Our server host, Gathering of Developers, folded in late November 2004 and was taken over by Take 2 games in December 2004. During which, nothing could be updated on our website and the forums were only updated in January 2006 after I contacted Rockstargames webtechs through Take 2. Runegame.com was hosted by GoD and who had used a special "in-house" coding for all their hosted websites that had to be decyphered.

Hello Laurie

Naturally we would be delighted to see you apply to be an editor when the server problems are resolved, and in the meantime I encourage you to read the FAQ which are aimed at improving an applicant's chances of being accepted.

However I hope you are aware that we have a simpler system for reporting broken links, which is either to use the "Update URL" link at the top right of each category page (when the servers are working), or to post in the Quality Control thread here. And of course everyone is encouraged to suggest new sites for listing in the Directory. Thanks.

I did read your FAQ and read nothing that would lessen my chances, but that is still up your reviewing board. I dont think being the game's Offical Website admin would be considered inappropriate for the job. Just apparently the DMOZ editor who included Rune under the Games/Video_Games/Shooter/R/Rune has not checked these links out in a very long time. Or been inactive. Otherwise, any changes would have been noted earlier.

However, I would like to give my thanks to the person who originally did this.

As your editor application is still in limbo and so it your "update URL", I will go over to the "Quality Control" forum as suggested. At least post my findings.

Whenever your problems are over, I would be happy to add a few places while insuring whatever links listed in the DMOZ are up to date. At least worth going to for any past, present or future players of the game. Or anyone interested in third person computer games in general.

Good game - even if it did take me a couple of months extra on 3 particular levels figuring out how to get to the next level to finish the game
