Any sort of wait time is possible. Nobody is watching the clock.

The "wait clock" doesn't start when a site is suggested. It starts when the site is first published online. Any time after that, it can be reviewed and listed.

Crossing fingers is OK, but I wouldn't recommend bating breath.

I've been waiting since 2006, i think it seriously depends if an editor is actually reviewing your category. I submitted a blog that i do and that was listed in under a month.

If you suggested a website in 2006 it will most probably have been lost during the crash at the end of that year. Feel free to suggest it again.

I typically suggest it once a year since 2006...still no luck. i just think there are some categories that have no editors in them, therefore they never get seen. I applied to be an editor 2-3 years ago and got denied for whatever reason, i guess because i'm tied to that category i'm not supposed to be an editor or something. But it was my understanding that you get a queue of websites which must be an astronomical amount and you have to review them in order of that queue. I guess i'll apply to be an editor again.

Why? We clearly ask people to suggest a website only ONCE.
Suggesting a website more than once at best will delay the review or in the worst case can lead to a ban of that website and all other websites owned by the same person.

If you are honest about such a connection it will never be a reason for denial. The reason(s) are always given in the email you will receive. Understanding those reasons and being able to solve the issues is something you must do on yourself. It is very similar to tasks editors have to do day in day out.

But it was my understanding that you get a queue of websites which must be an astronomical amount and you have to review them in order of that queue.
Absolutely not. There is no queue at all. There is a pool of suggested websites. Editors can sort that pool in several ways, one of them being the date of suggestion (suggest the site again and that editor will see the suggestion at the bottom of the sorted list - you just delayed the review of the website).
O, and we do not have to review suggested websites. We build categories in a directory. The pool of suggested websites is just one of many sources we can use, and in many cases it is not the most important source.

I guess i'll apply to be an editor again.
If you only want to apply to become an editor to get your website listed than please don't. We do not need such editors.
If on the other hand you are interested in DMOZ and what it stands for than you are welcome to apply.

I did not mean to rub you the wrong way. Well the great crash occured during my submission and i technically have sent in about 4 times counting that for this one domain. It doesn't seem that this specific category has been active in several years since it has 37 or so websites which are quite outdated. I applied to be an editor to get this category moving, i didn't do it to get mine listed.

Anyways, thanks for answering my questions hopefully either myself or someone can get this specific section moving. I'm sure it has a huge back log with lots of websites that have gone under due to the current climate and not to mention all of the junk submissions involved. Thanks again.
